Lapis bowed. "Follow me. The village is not far from here and the headman is willing to pay the fee."
Lapis Lazuli took a few strides and turned around. "Are you not disturbed by the fact that I am a half breed?" he asked Signus quietly.

"I don't care, I am a doctor, I'm not supposed to discriminate." He said though it was a lie, he hated vampires, always had but his job did come first.

Lapis Lazuli turned and continued walking in silence.
~~~~~
Upon their arrival to the village, the headman rushed.
"Thank goodness the doctor is here! Thank you, young man, for fetching him," the headman bowed to both Signus and Lapis. Lapis Lazuli bowed back.
Lazuli began to back away. 'I don't think that they'll need me anymore . . .' he thought.
The headman turned a bit to face Signus. "Sir, a few villagers here were injured while fighting off a few dark beings. We need your services to treat them. And you too, Lazuli-han."
Lapis stopped. "Me?"
"My fee is one hundred per patient, if you cannot pay the fee now I will accept an IOU but either way it must be paid, do you accept the fee?" Signus said as he began to follow the headman towards the patients.
"I can pay, this village is wealthy, therefore, so am I," replied the headman, dragging Lapis. "Quit being so shy. No one here cares what you are because you are not the enemy. You are a friend."
"But I don't know anything in the medical field!" Lapis fibbed.
The headman sighed. "How the wolf howls. Lazuli-han, I know that you can perform white magic, don't lie. We can pay you too."
"Ah, no, you already have enough to pay for with this doctor," he smiled kindly. "I'll help because you won't let me not help, now will you?" he chuckled.
"You don't mind having help, do you?" Lapis asked Signus.
"I prefer to do my work alone but if you truely want him to be my partner in this I will have no choice but to allow it, afterall you are paying my fee." He said with a small shrug. "But I must say I've never really been one to trust in any magic... I prefer medicines, needles, bandages, and thread... and if you will use white magic please at least allow me to dissenfect any wounds first."
"White magic can disinfect wounds while closing them," Lapis said. "But it can be quite taxing on the spell caster after a while, so I probably won't be of much help. You'll still be treating over fifty percent of the wounded."
"If you say so..." He said as he placed his hands into his pockets and continued to follow the headman, wondering just what the injuries were.
In the sick house were people with broken limbs, half-dead people, people with large gashes, punctured lungs, people bleeding to death, and there was one man that was barely alive in the corner and his entrails threatened to fall out.
Upon seeing this, Lapis turned his head and shuddered. "How horrible . . ." He almost vommitted.
"I'll need to work on three at a time. Can you place them in a triangular fashion so that myself and my tools can be in the middle? And yes it will be hard for me to work on so many at once and it may also be dangerous but if I don't then there's a larger chance more will die then they need to." Signus said seemingly unaffected by the sight. He was used to this but much sometimes he'd been in worse. "I'd also like it if you always make it the three most critical patients. Another thing is is that I will be exhausted after this so I'd like just a clean area where I can lay down on to rest when I'm finished."
Lapis Lazuli automatically sent his white magic to work. His spells partly disinfected all of the wounds and helped the almost dying into a triangular formation to make Signus's job easier.
After awhile, some of their wounds began to heal because Lapis's work so far.
Lapis was getting tired. "That should make things a bit easier for you," he said and collasped from mental/ magical strain.
"Thank you..." He said to Lapis before he walked into the middle of the three and began to operate as fast as he could without increasing the risks of making a mistake beyond his approval point. He worked for two hours in middle of the three before he finishes, stitching them up where he'd cut into them. He placed his scalpels in very hot water that the leader of the village had provided and he then moved the three to the other side of the room. He then brough another three and formed them into a triangle once again continuing on with his work for hours on end until finally the patients were finished.
Signus was so tired it was hard for him to stand up straight. his vision was even becoming blurred now. "Excuse me... but is that table ready?" He asked not really directing the question towards anyone. The procedure had taken eighteen hours to complete but it was worth it, everyone who had been hurt had been seen to and were now on their way to healing.
Lapis Lazuli had already been moved to a room up stairs with fresh air to rest by the headman's wife.
"Yes, it is ready," bowed the headman.
"Good..." Signus said, his voice reaking of exhaustion. He slowly managed to walk over to the prepaired table and laid down on it falling asleep almost immediately. He felt good about himself for managing to get through so many patients in the time he'd used. Even though the steel of the table was cold and his doctors clothes were covered in blood from the people he'd operated on he managed to sleep just fine showing accurately just how tired the procedure had indeed made him.
Upstairs, Lapis Lazuli too was fast asleep. He was in such a deep sleep that he didn't hear a witch on a broom knock on his window.
"Hey, Lapis! Let me in, I want to help the patients, too!" Celene pouted outside his window.
